• Phobos BT A25 arm bracket fatigue. The Phobos BT series uses an aluminum arm bracket that fatigues faster than the cast-iron equivalent on FAAC or Viking operators, especially on San Mateo’s heavier coastal redwood gates. We test the transformer output, replace the capacitor pair with higher-temperature-rated parts, and log the voltage readings under load. The Sub R hydraulic operator is common on San Mateo commercial slide gates, and the piston seal weeps fluid after about six to eight years in our coastal climate. BFT operators rely on magnetic encoders to track gate position, and even a minor impact, like a garbage can or bicycle, can knock the encoder ring out of alignment by a millimeter or two. The gate then over-travels, slams the stop, or reverses unexpectedly. We realign the encoder to factory spec using BFT’s magnetic-gap tool, reset the limit switches, and test every safety input before we sign off. We leave you the gap measurement in writing.
